Just had a major service done at my local Indy - all good and nothing needed doing over and above the schedule except for a couple of advisories for the future...
Front top shock absorber mounts.
Front and rear brake flex's and a couple of the fixed brake lines (not an MOT failure but signs of corrosion noted).
Radiator hoses (supply and return - both sides) showing first signs of corrosion around the QR fittings - no big issue but again a point to note.
Drop links (all round) advised to consider replacement before next MOT - again not a failure but one to note.
I duly paid and took my car away and decided to look at the implications and subsequent costs of OPC parts as opposed to other OEM stuff which is freely available. The following figures are excluding any labour charges but I guess most will be able to understand what the potential bill may be.
To clarify, I have no OPC warranty or third party equivalent and the items would probably be FWT on a 2006 car.
Ok, prices (supply only via the inter web, including postage). None of them are difficult to install nor require hugely specialist tools except for perhaps a geometry check on the suspension once those parts are fitted.
Top shock mounts (front) - OPC £160 for both inc. VAT, Interweb £67 OEM (Sachs).
Brake flex hoses (front and rear) - OPC £179 for all 4 inc. VAT, Interweb £47 OEM for all 4.
Radiator hoses (supply and return both sides) inc. clips - OPC £75 - no OEM availability.
Suspension drop links (front and rear, both sides) - OPC £170, Interweb £75 OEM (Bilstein).
To summarise........
OPC - circa £585 for parts less PCGB 10%? = £526 ish.
Interweb OEM - £263 ish. which is just over 50% saving, but clearly one has to do the work etc.
I will post some pictures of the installation once I return from my honeymoon.
