For me I have used The porsche Shop for new bits www.porscheshop.co.uk
or for second hand parts porsche a part www.porsch-apart.co.uk

Both have always been very helpful and have take vast sums of my cash !!! []

As for the clutch is it not hydraulic ?

Porscheshop are good but can be pricey so make sure you shop around before buying from them. For alot of smaller parts I find the OPC can be pretty competitive. You can use your 10% PCGB discount but I often find they give you a larger than 10% discount anyway. Berlyn Services (link below) is also a firm favourite amongst people on this forum.

I heartily recommend Bert at Berlyn Services as already mentioned. He is also the Tech Rep for the 944 Register and knows our cars inside out so can give advice as opposed to just flogging you parts. He is not always the absolute cheapest but he'll be very close to it and will also tell you when you are better off getting a part from the OPC.

Best OPC in the country for parts has to be Exeter, ask for Adrian Oxley, he also knows his way round the parts lists for our older cars (not all OPCs do [8|] )

BTW the clutch is hydraulic and the 3 foot pipe from the slave to the master cylinder used to be a whopping £150+ though one Register member took his old pipe to a local hose supplier and they made him one up using the original connectors for 10% of the price []

I paid the £150 for mine a year before I knew this [8|]

Again the others have it covered: Adrian at Exeter OPC for dealer bits (he will post for free or cost for bigger items). He's on 01392 822841Bert at Berlyn for anything he has pretty much as he'll undercut the OPC with parts of equal quality or tell you to go to the OPC when you have to. Incidentally he's in Devon too and Adrian is Bert's local OPC parts man.For used stuff I got to Simon at Porschapart first and if he doesn't have it (rare) I would consider perhaps Douglas Valley.I have used Porscheshop only very rarely as they tend to resell other people's bits (commonly OPC) at a mark-up. For example a mug from Adrian is about £7+VAT and the same thing is £12+VAT from Porscheshop.For tuning parts then it's a whole different game and really you need to research what you want as usually a part is available from only one source and competitor products are slightly different.

It's worth checking the clutch flexi hose before you replace fluid reservoirs. They are known to split.

Also likely to be the slave cylinder. Apparently you get a pool of fluid under the carpet by the pedals if it's the master cylinder. They are cheap enough that I just had the lot replaced when I had a problem, with a Goodridge-esque hose made up by a local hose company.

I've generally bought parts in the past from design 911, porscheshop and the OPC and have now come to realise that perhaps they aren't the cheapest.

OPCs are regularly competitive and should always be called, usually first. PS on the other hand, should not usually be called at all.

There is no one place that is always the cheapest or best value - always check around.

Depending on what you are after eurocarparts are generally cheap . It's free delivery plus this bank holiday there's a further discount of 15 - 25% depending on the value of your order . I've used them a few times but they tend to use massively over sized boxes for delivery which isn't great for the environment if you worry about that sort of thing . An abs sensor the size of my thumb turned up rattling around in an otherwise empty shoe box size package when a jiffy bag would have done and a pair of wiper blades in a box you could've got a rear exhaust section in . I do feel we should probably try to support the smaller independent suppliers though such as Berlyn Services , ProMax Motorsport , Jon Mitchell's Garage etc and you could try speaking to your local indy Porsche garage and see if they will supply parts price matched to the cheapest you can find on the net . I did this with Car Tech and Care in North Yorkshire when i was getting my belts done there .

Had to replace the speedo cable last week - OPC £11, Porscheshop £24!! I will not use Porscheshop having had a previous poor experience with them and their prices a taking the p!$$

Try Max at Frazerpart. All genuine Porsche parts and very competitive versus OPC. Both are the cheapest on most occasions for me

Not a fan of 'motor factors' as they may be cheaper but you're getting cheap pattern parts. I prefer genuine parts on my car!!

For the smaller model specifics I always ring my OPC first, don't forget everything PorscheShop sell they buy from Porsche so the mark up is always going to be higher!

For that reason alone I have never bought anything from them, other than that I switch between ECP & GSF for regular service parts, and Alasdair & ellit are always there for salvage []

It's not really small regular service items I need, thought I'll order an oil filter to do an oil service at the same time, whilst the car is up in the air!

I'm after a steering rack, track rod arms and ends. A steering shaft as well to convert my car to manual steering. I'd like to polybush the suspension but OH won't let me because in his mind Porsche is having too much money spent on it at the moment! []

Anyways, as much as I wish the car was happily running fine I'm learning stuff []
