PASM Software 'upgrade'

I have an outstanding recall on the C2S for a software upgrade to the PASM. Some of the chaps on the turbo forum are reporting a 'nicer' ride on the 997 tt than the C2S, wonder if this is software rather than hardware related ?

Anyway, has anyone had theirs upgraded and if so have you noticed any difference ?

I have noticed a strange 'hop' from the rear sometimes over a particular and fairly innocuous type of bump, a kind of unnatural suspension reaction, must be software.

Time to chase the OPC about it again.

Interesting! I havent heard of this Recall. How recent is this and what MY year is your car?

I suspect the turbo alloys are lighter than the (pretty heavy) Carrera S ones, lower unsprung mass = better ride

I have just had the PASM unit replaced after it failed. Sport ride doesn't seem so hard at medium speeds, I'd just put this down to me not having the car for 2 weeks...

Alex,

My car is MY 06 but was actually built late July 05.

I hadnt been advised of the recall either, just happened to be speaking to the service dept about something else and they told me ! Cant be too serious then....

I just called my OPC as I am booked in on Friday for some other work. They put the last digits of my VIN into the central service computer database and no warrantee work etc came up.

My car is a MY05 Carrera S Cab, so a few months older than yours Yves. I guess then the recall is specific for Coupe cars at this time and they will bring the Cab PASM updates out later (if at all)?!

Please let me know what you manage to find out when you have the recall applied, and I will subsequently pester my OPC again. [8|]

Guys it's not a general upgrade but specific to certain chassis numbers only. I don't know why or what. However, my contact says it's not a recall, hence nothing safety related, but something to be done when the car is in for service etc. The only way to know if you need it would be to ring your dealer and quote your chassis number, however as it's not a safety thing nor a general upgrade to a new version I wouldn't rush out looking for some improvements ! I can only guess a certain batch of components at a certain time on the production line need some kind of retrospective work.

Thanks for that Rob, I am not in a rush to have it done but will report back when completed.

Sent you an e.mail from work on another matter by the way.

Yves

OPC phoned yesterday, turns out its actually a 'PCM' software fix not 'PASM' after all !
