Passenger mirror question

metropolis986

New member
I stupidly hit an opening gate with the passenger side mirror of my 986. "Hit" is probably an overstatement as there isn't even a visible mark on the mirror (I was going very slow and thought the gate had fully opened) but the mirror moved and the glass shattered. As the 986 has heated mirrors the glass stayed in its place held by a wire. I am taking it to the OPC soon but was wondering if the whole unit will need replacing (i.e. the whole mirror) or not...

Looks like it form the parts catalogue - http://www.porsche.com/uk/accessoriesandservice/porscheservice/originalparts/originalpartscatalogue/

Regards

I would contact someone like Porschapart and locate the mirror glass only, even if you have to buy a whole mirror secondhand (and just remove the glass) it will still be cheaper than buying a whole new unit and fitting it plus painting it.
If your mirror case is not damaged just replace the mirror
