Hi, Has anyone experienced the passenger side window lowering itself when the passenger door is opened from the inside? I am getting this and also the window doesn't close unless i keep my finger on the button. Any thoughts very welcome.

Car is 996 Facelift Coupe Tip S - 2003 (March)

Rob

Hi Rob. The window has to lower in order for the door to be able open(!?)- same with the driver's side...? Stand outside the car and you'll see that if the window didn't drop a bit the door rubber would be torn off when you open the door. Adrian.

Do you mean that it lowers completely when you open the door, or just drops 10mm or so when you pull the handle? If it lowers completely, it sounds like there might be a problem with the door microswitch unit. A Porsche System Tester will be able to display the microswitch outputs, and tell you if there is a problem. If it just drops 10mm, that's normal - but I guess you know that.

The problems are probably related, but you could try re-training the one-touch operation of the window. With the ignition on, door closed, press the up button until the window reaches the top and hold it for a couple of seconds until the overload cutout cuts in. Then see if it operates up and down with one-touch.
