PCCB rear brake Q

Serviced the rear brakes today including new pads, pins etc.

The car it seems is on original pads etc. and when I pulled the old pads the pistons were fitted with the circular anti-vibration shims (which were in a pretty sorry state). Looking at the service manual, searching online and looking at the parts manual it seems that they are not listed on the parts diagram, nor are they mentioned in the service manual (unlike the fronts). Planet 9 forum posts suggests that they are not required for the rears which supports the info I have found.

I have not sourced replacements - any thought or experiences?
 
I'm a bit late to the party here, but the damping plates are shown on PET - just not numbered on the diagram. They are the same 28mm and 30mm plates used on standard brakes. Numbers on the attached diagram have been superseded by: 28mm - 996.352.086.02 @ £9.01+VAT each 30mm - 996.352.086.00 @ £9.01+VAT each

Thanks Richard - looks like a trip to the OPC then........... (just double checked the service manual - note to self, need eyes testing!)

Tell me about it Jeff!! My heart sank when I found the shims after removing the old pads - I always try and amass all the bits before I start a job and I kicked myself skim reading the Porsche repair manual!. Going to OPC in Leeds tomorrow to collect a set..........
 
I'm surprised that Porsche don't offer a brake pad service kit Chris, which contains all the necessary parts for such a job. Hope the replacement goes smoothly. Jeff
 
Thank you mate. There is a 'brake pin service kit' which has the anti rattle springs, mounting pins and bolts (circlip for the rear) but strangely, the anti vibration shims are a separate item at a measly £7.38 each plus VAT (and that's with PCGB discount!) and its basically a thin disc with a circular spring in the centre and an adhesive pad. I had to put 12 in the front (6 pot calipers) and will be picking up 8 tomorrow for the rear...... Dont mind hugely TBH - they have been on since new and the car is 7 1/2 years old.
