PCCB rear pads

Anyone know what is the original thickness of the rear yellow pads on PCCB discs, had the rear wheels off today and they seem to have about 7.5mm of pad left? I read somewhere about changing them when they are 50% worn?

Thanks for any info

Andy

They tend to wear uneven so not always easy to measure. Mine are changed no later than when they reach 4mm.

Hi Andrew,

New brake pads are approx. 10mm, so you have plenty left at 7.5mm.

As a rule of thumb, it's time to change when pad material is down to the thickness of the backing plate. In practice, with PCCB's many of us prefer to replace them when half worn in order to safeguard those valuable rotors.

Bear in mind, pad wear isn't linear, it's exponential and, as you move past the 50% life, wear accelerates.

I was surprised how quickly the rear pads on my Turbo 'S' wore - well before its first due service. So it's well worth keeping a special eye on them. [;)]

Thanks for the advise, will keep an eye on them, unlike the rear tyres, which back in Feb when it was serviced were about 3mm, checked this weekend and well below the tread markers across 75% of the tyre, note to self must stop using as intended[:D][8D]

Two new rear tyres fitted and ready for use again[:)]
