I know I haven't been around for a while but have you ever tried driving an RS with torn collateral ligaments of both sides of your clutch knee?

I've just had my renewal notice through from Manning, explaining about the change of insurer and when I phoned them about the value they were stating on the policy (they said £44k) they told me that the new people, Summit, require a tracker to be fitted to any car worth over £50k. I tried explaining that the clock will flatten the battery in a fortnight if the car isn't driven, let alone a tracker, but they said it was an absolute requirement. They have found me an alternative (Aviva) at about £50 less but without trackday cover.

As you all know, even a tired looking RS, like the yellow one which has just appeared on Pistonheads will go for mid 50's, so it looks like Summit will not get any of our cars.

By the way, the Summit policy specifically excludes the Ring other than approved track days.

If your looking for a Thatcham CAT 7 rated tracker device try here:

http://www.mtrackonline.co.uk/

Best of all it's self powered, can be self installed and attracts the same insurance discounts as a well known wired version.

(and no I do not get commission I am just a satisfied customer)

ps They also do a unit that in addition to the GSM/RF protection has inbuilt GPS (But it's not currently on the UK website).

Thanks for this Nick. It looks like a good bit of kit. Have to have a good look around their website at the weekend.

I'm interested in this - did you install it yourself? BTW, the GPS version is now on their website.

Cheers

Yes self installed very simple. Initial set-up to their call centre straight forward and they were also open to doing a 'I steal my own car and lets see how long it takes for you to find me'.

I have the GPS version; The unit alarmed within 30 secs and they had my GPS location a minute later including my speed and direction of travel. I was very impressed.
