For a while now the regulars at trackdays and meetings have bemoaned the fact that little happens in Scotland esp trackdays arr by PCGB
Well it looks like the Knockhill day may be cancelled due to lack of interest and I cannot believe that there are not 40 enthusiasts willing to book this.
Can anyone out there give me a good reason for not booking?
Is it too close to the concours the next day?, have we all had enough trackdays by Sept.?
Mike

This is very disapointing chaps -particularly from the feedback from the keen trackdayers I met at Oulton Park earlier this year........

I was considering flying up for the whole weekend as I think the trailer haul from Surrey would do me in!! Ten hours each way at a steady 55-60??

Still hope to see yous guys again some time.

The trackday is on at the same time as the Mount Stuart Classic weekend.

I may be going to that. Or I might be getting sent to California on a work
thing.

So that' s why I can' t commit to going along.

Brian Wood was actually working hard at the recent Dealer ( Glenvarigill) trackday spreading the word so hopefully the numbers will up soon.

Could it be because local Porsche owners already organise a Knockhill track evening EVERY month for £40

I attended one last year whilst on a family holiday in Edinburgh (my wife is amazingly understanding). I messed up the dates that I booked our Cheshire holiday this year and missed an Oulton Park day I had my eye on [;)]

Yes it may be that BUT at £145 it' s a great value day and I cannot believe more members weren' t interested.
The £40 deal is only on if you book all tracknites in advance and on some of the evenings if things are running late or there are a few offs the tracktime can be as low as 25 mins, and while I am prepared to pay this the whole day for £145 is def a good deal.
But ce la vie at the end of the day PCGB booked the track on OUR behalf and there were only eleven people who paid in advance making it a bit pricey at £5k for the day. so I don' t expect we will see Scotland featuring in the trackday calender for next year.
Out of interest how many members went to the Aug. Glenvarigall day?
Mike

I, too, am disappointed that the day has been cancelled. I fully intended to take part, but didn' t want to outlay £145 until I was pretty sure nearer the time that the weather was going to be OK. Have been to Knockhill in the p***ing rain and it ain' t fun! I guess therefore that I am partly responsible for the cancellation of the event and I apologise for that. £50 is not so hard to swallow if one of the track nights is a wash-out, but £145 is a different matter. Still, was really looking forward to it and am sorry that it' s no longer on.

I second Derek' s comments. Scotland is not known for good weather and if it is chucking it with rain £145 goes down the drain. Perhaps some sort of insurance, say for £30 may be acceptable. In any case my insurance does not cover Track Days so I' ll need to change next year.

I too was serious considering attending, but was working on things like insurance and some sort of stone chip protection before I committed. I think PCGB have been a bit hasty in cancelling due to the fact that this is a new event in Scotland, and people (like myself) have not tracked their car before, maybe wanted to come along and see what it is all about before commiting to taking their car. Perhaps the club should have absorbed the cost of this for the sake of the members, just to " get the ball rolling" so to speak and attract more people like myself for whom the day would turn into a very expensive outing (cost + insurance + tyres etc).

All is not lost, as there is a track night on next wednesday evening (10th) up at Knockhill.
£50 for an evenings entertainment. [:D]

Damn - I would have come along for a look see but I' m on holiday in St Andrews with wife and wain - don' t laugh though if I turn up in the wifes Omega.

I am interested in attending the track night, but anyone got any ideas over Insurance.....where can I get some to cover me if the worst happens!

Do your own insurers cover track days? Alternatively, some of the insurers who advertise in PP might do one-off cover, but don' t expect it to be terribly cheap!!! [:' (]
I would imagine that the majority of the guys who take part in the track events do so uninsured, if you' re prepared to take the risk! []
Let us know how you get on.

Sorry for not replying sooner....my own company (Admiral) won' t touch a track day with a barge pole, and can' t get a reasonable quote anywhere that I would consider worth it. I wouldn' t be prepared to take the risk of non-insured as the car is just new and took me a loooooong time to save for it.

Enjoy the night anyone who' s going....I' ll be thinking of you.

Why not just come up for a look-see, then? There are always a few folk who come up just to watch.

Unfortunately am ' ahem " working" at a client' s site in Ireland at the moment, so couldn' t be there, as otherwise I might have come along. [:(]
