Can anyone tell me when the first PCGB magazine was issued. I have just bought 14 magazines that go back to summer 1962.
I have bought them because I am just looking for anything to do with my cars (you never know) and they make interesting reading
They came in a red "Porsche Post" binder as well.

Well the club was set up in 1961 so they're very early.

I'm sure Peter Cook (club archivist) would be interested to hear from you . . . understand that some of the earlier mag's are missing - - i.e. look to purchase from you.

Phil

If anyone is interested there are four early Porsche Post magazines on ebay.

I wonder how they finished up in this location and who was the member who first received them?
I wanted to know more so I toook a look at them on the e ebay link above.

On closer inspection the edition with the red cover has the name B Haig (Betty?) in the top right hand corner.
Could have been her copy or was it her car on the cover and someone had then noted that?

Looks like it was a qulaity publication in colour in the very early days of the club. How many members did we have in 1962?

Do the Club have copies of all edtitions since days one - must be a rare chance to fill any gaps if we have any.

Suggest we dont all bid against each other if the Club wants them for archive nows the time to say so!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hendrick,

The latest edition of Porsch Post answers your question

I think I have a spare copy of Summer 62 (PP No. 2) around somewhere - yours for the princely sum of - £zero (Do not get too excited it will be a bit dog eared) - I do also have a number of odd duplicates (the small format ones) just chase me for them

On the Cover of Winter 83 is my old 914/6 after an outright win at the PCGB Concours - note the French Number plate which Barry Curtis had made for me and flown in for the event

The car was Barry`s only transport when he lived in Paris - he used to boot it up to Ampsterdam and leave it in the Airport Carpark while he flew out to the Middle East.
He was working on Quatar - I think he was on 3 week stints at the time

This is how Barry and I got to know each other - he advertised it in Classic Car and I turned up to buy it - you wouldn`t find one now for £2,500

Only partly answers the question. Whilst it says that this is issue number 250 it is actually issue number 248. The first two magazines were not called Porsche Post. First person (other than Peter Cook) who can post the name used for the first two editions gets the 'Anorak of the Month' prize, brought to you this month from Brentford Nylons (not a business partner of PCGB).

Cheers,

Mike,
Would love to have a copy of No 2, as long as it is still readable!
Also I "won" those two photos on ebay at great expense. Will have copies made for you when I get them.

More Club Trivia,

I have a letter from Jeff May inviting Barry Dukes to the Inaugural meeting of `The Porsche Club`at Chateau Impney to be held on October 22nd 1961 at 2 o`clock
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
July 1962 - Midland Region News Letter - (Un-numbered) - Headed `Porsche Club - Great Britain` (No Badge until Issue dated November 1962)
26th March 1963 - London & The South - Regional News Letter No.1 - Headed Porsche Club Great Britain (No Badge)
The Northern Region also had a News Letter - I have No.3 which although un-dated was probably June 65 - they appear to have issued every 3 months, which means that No. 1 would be dated Feb 65 - (It carries the Club Badge)
There was also a Porsche Club Great Britain National News Suppliment - No. 1 is dated January 1965 (With Badge)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

What does all this appear to tell us -

Midland were the active initial region and the catalyst for the club
Jeff May appears to be the driving force (Later thrown out of the club - I do not know, for why)
The badge started its use between August and November 1963
