PCGB Member
I'm now a proper paid-up PCGB member (and have added my membership number to my profile), but the forum still classes me as 'non-member'.

How does this get updated??

Thanks

Sidicks

PS - It's my birthday today!!

Sorry - I guess I should have made more of an effort to search for the answer before making a post........

PS - although I live in Kent, my PCGB region is listed as Sussex - have the boundaries been re-drawn ?!

This lack of ability on the clubs part to allocate members to their correct region is a major bone of contention here in Dorset. We have had members allocated to Hampshire, Somerset, Gloustershire and even one I beleive to Cornwall. This may seem ammusing but the regions are allocated funds dependant upon membership numbers. With respect to small regions such as Dorset this can prove quite costly. Rant over!

I think it's done by postcode.

We have a GU postcode, so we are "Surrey" region.
However we live in Farnborough (Hampshire).

The thing is, Surrey meet is nearly half the distance away than where Hampshire meet - so practically it makes sense.

There is nothing to stop you attending any regions meetings, we go to loads [;)]

If you really want to change regions, I think it can be done - just ask Club Office.

Edit:
Although the examples Geoff gives are a bit extreme![]

My main gripe is that we only get to know about the "active members" that are misplaced. How many more are there? All of my examples had Dorset post codes! Active members are the only ones that notice and report these errors.
You are as Mark stated allowed to be affiliated to any region you desire by advising club office.

Simon,[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]I have set you as a member.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]Geoff, this is first I have heard of new members being allocated to "wrong" regions. The system has an association table with all post codes and a region code. Need some examples to check, but with so many entries, could be a few rogue values.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]Simon, have you spoke to Jenni at Club Office to see why the wrong region?[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

Dorset's RO has raised this issue with the club office. It's not just new members, some old ones have also shifted. I suspect that the clubs database assumes that only post codes starting DT are for Dorset, which is not correct. Anyway this year Dorset's membership numbers dropped significantly according to the club records, which simply is not correct. I'm sure this issue will be resolved, but meantime the Dorset region is working with reduced fund allocation.

Geoff,

I have just checked online onto the system and yes there seems a gap there - my respo, I am afraid.
New members were not allocated automatically to R26. I have changed the allocation table for new members from now on and will work with Jenni to review the existing members that are not and should be in R26.

Note that its not just post code DT, also BA, TA, BS and BH

This is a very difficult question and we have had some members ask if they can change region. BS is Bristol, but we have found that some members have been allocated to R15 and the meeting place for that region is miles and miles away whereas we meet just a few miles out of Bristol. The same applies to some BA members (Bath) which here again is only down the road from our meeting place and because of the geographical situation of meeting places, some members ask to change region despite their post code.

It seems that members are unaware that they can do this and this may be a contributing factor to some regions having poor attendances at meetings.
