Dear all,
New to the world of front-engined Pork, having just purchased a LHD Maritime Blue '93 968 CS.......... I have arranged an agreed value of £15k with Mannings, but need to get that valuation formalised / verfied by the Club. Can anyone point me in the right direction. I have done the same previously with my 964 RS, but I know who to talk to about that one !!!!

many thanks !

Jamie

There's a form on the website, unfortunately the website's down ATM.

I'd suggest you call the office, Steve Kevlin deals with valuations and should be able to email you a copy. Then all you do is fill the form in, return it with some photos, and wait. [:)]

My Indy wrote me up a valuation which I submitted to Manning and they accepted.

Some Register Secretaries will as well, although it's not official. The thing with the Club valuation is that it's done by someone with insurance industry approval, so in theory is impossible for them to dispute later. Others, such as indies or other Club reps, might be open to challenge.

It's unlikely, but as the official Club one is free it seems silly not to have it over any other. The only issue is the time it takes can be ridiculously long, but in the event of a claim I can't see why an valuation being processed would not be valid, as it's based on the info at the time of the application, not the post-accident condition.

Steve Kevlin returned mine very quickly. Only a couple of weeks but that might have been because I sent it in last December in the racing closed season. I guess now that motorsport is up and running again it might take a bit longer.

When people do stuff like this as volunteer unfortunately you have to wait a little bit - as it is a new purchase what happened in my instance is I gave the purchase price to be confirmed with the independent valuation. I appreciate the volunteer work the club does as I did it before for another car club and realise the time and effort involved.

Hi Ken,

From your time on the Board, how do you feel about individual Register Secretaries doing valuations?

We have a Club valuer who is insurance industry approved, is it worth the risk of unapproved people doing their own valuations?

We have a Club valuer who is insurance industry approved,

I think it would be unwise to deviate from this, it could leave the club open to risk if something should go wrong.
Unless of course that the person doing the valuation does it as a separate business and indemnifies the club, that could work, but then that would not involve the club name.

Hi Guys re independant valuations it is difficult however knowledgable you might think you are valuing a car at a distance and from photos is dicy business, with 968's for example I have looked at five and its not the top show its what's underneath that matters , corrosion, especiailly so I am wary about it but happy to give my rough guide since I think I know the general values and I also have a 924 bought from ebay. Steve Kevlin cannot do much more if he does not inspect the car, most specialist Porsche garages will probably talk down the price, I am prepared to offer advice and that's about where I stop rgds Ken
