PCM 3 Phone ?

Peely

New member
Would be very gratefull if anyone with a PCM 3 system and a phone that works could list what phone they have ?

I am looking for a replacement phone and want one that works with this sysyem, ie it links up to bluetooth without any fuss and shows the correct information on the PCM screen.

I have tried my local Carphone wharehouse who couldn't really help me without using a new phone and breaking the seal on the boxes to try in the car.

Are Porsche GB worth asking for a compatible list ? [8|]

I don't want anything expensive ie Iphone or Blackberry just a decent'ish phone possibly with touchscreen as thats what I've had for the past 3 years or so.

Have been told on here I think that most Nokia's are compatible, and have tried a couple of older one's that did seem to work, but a little out of date now, but don't want to purchase one and find out later that the newer one's not compatible.

Any help appreciated .........

On the recommendation of the dealer I purchased a Nokia 6500 Classic which has worked 100% with the car for the last year. Probably superceded by now, does everything I need, but not a touch screen. Very neat and small though. The iPhone looks like a brick in comparison.

Yes I was aware of that but was lead to believe that you lost some options on the PCM as a result, can anyone confirm ?
With an SAP phone the PCM takes over all the functions of the phone as the phone itself goes into "Remote Sim Mode". Phonebook, messaging etc is all available through the PCM and the lower left stalk. With HFP the PCM is just that - a big hands free kit. I have a Nokia 6600 slide which does the business but, of course, it doesn't have anywhere near the features of a strawberry or iPatch[;)]. I'm sure there must be some Nokias that do all that stuff that are compatible with SAP though?

Cheers,
just been offered a new Nokia 5230 for reasonable money...............anyone know if this will work before I order one ?

I have a Nokia Xpressmusic which would not connect to PCM when I picked my new car up a few weeks back. They had to take it into the workshop where they changed the bluetooth mode on the PCM using a laptop. Dont know exactly what they did or why, but it worked afterwards. It was mentioned that there are a couple of bluetooth modes, and the default one wouldnt work with my Nokia.

Great ! []

Do you know if any applications where lost in the PCM with your new setting ?

Hi,

Unfortunately I wouldnt know as I was having the handover with the car when it was noticed, so it was whipped into the workshop!

Having said that, all of the phone options are definately working - the phone goes into remote sim mode, as mentioned previously.

If you have something specific you want me to check let me know.

Regards
Chris

No, nothing specific, its just that someone else on here in an earlier thread, mentioned that if this adjustment was done, a few options where lost in the PCM, never found out what though, so wouldn't really know where to start ?
Also, I guess your OPC would have mentioned it to you before they adjusted it ..............I would have thought ? [;)]

Yours is the Nokia 5230 and not the 5800 or 5310 isn't it ?

Yes, strange that ?

My current phone is listed as having SAP, but obviously doesn't pair up, and has Chris has already said his 5230 doesn't, so not sure what to think about that ?

Nokia 5800 on the list of buys for this week !
