PCM and CD - HELP

Ok guys another question, well you have resolved all my other 996 question almost immediately.

I have a 1998 (MY1997) 996 with a PCM1 system telephone etc. There is no 6 CD changer. I would like to add one.

I asked my local car electronical place and they said I would have to fit a unit with a separate display in the car and tune it into a radio station basically because they couldn't backfit- Clearly I don't want to do this.

They said a genuiue Porsche 6 CD changer would work but was "excessively expensive" and they weren't sure how to wire it into the PCM1. They were great with my 924S but seem uncomfortable with a 996. I won't be using them but at least they were honest.

I don't fancy an OPC with their labour rates.

Any ideas, can I buy a new or used Porsche CD change and get it fitted by a good independent Porsche Specialist? If so how much will be looking at?

Thanks in advance for any help

Thanks for the advice. I don't appear to have M689 or a bracket.

I am planning a porsche sports exhaust (PSE) at PCT so will ask them to look at it and may try to get a secondhand unit.

Maybe when I get a PSE I won't need a CD player!
