PCM causing drain

Looking for some assistance please.

I'm being a little cheeky as i no longer have a 996 but replaced it with a Cayenne.
The level of interest and information on the Cayenne forum isn't half as good as here and i think my PCM2 is the same as the later 996 version.

The problem I have is that with the phone module connected, I have an electrical drain of 1.2 amps. If I disconnect the unit this drops to 0.02 amps.
I have a loop for the MOST leads so the system will continue to operate but I get an error on the PCM screen of a systems error for the phone.

My options as I see them are:

1. Live with the error message
2. Replace the phone module and hope everything works and switches off correctly
3. Have the PCM recoded to show no phone (if this is possible)

Has anyone else experienced this sort of problem?
I think the phone module is keeping the optical/CAN system live resulting in an excessive drain.
Is there another option I have overlooked or does anyone know of a simple solution - I have tried temporarily wiring the perm live to ign supply but as the system powers on with key on, this doesn't offer a solution.

Thanks in advance (and thanks for letting a Cayenne owner post in the 996 forum [;)]

Dave

The phone module can stay on some time after the ignition is switched off. Check to see if it is still consuming power after, say, 30 minutes.

If it is the phone module causing the drain, I would suggest replacing it with a ViseeO or Tooki Bluetooth phone module. You can sometimes find them second hand on eBay. That's where I got mine. It will be plug-and-play, in place of the factory unit.

If you can live without the phone, then just disconnect it, and have the system coded to remove it, and you won't get the error message. You will stIll have to leave the fibre optic bypass in, to complete the loop.

Thanks Richard,

I think I checked the drain for about 15 mins.
Will check again over the next week or so.

Do you know if there is a reason why the phone stays live longer than everything else?
Without the phone module, the drain drops within about 10 mins

My 30 minutes was just a finger in the air figure to give plenty of time for things to shut down. 10 minutes sounds about right for the components on the MOST loop to remain active after the ignition is switched off. If the phone is still draining after 15 minutes, it does seem like the module is at fault.

I tried giving away a phone module for several weeks on here with no success. My daughter got fed up with it kicking round the office and put it ob eBay a couple of weeks ago. It sold for £2.00. Sod's Law, isn't it?
