PCM CD Issue

Thought I would be clever and try out the MP3 capability of the PCM, inserted CD containing MP3's into slot and waited.

Screen says checking CD and then nothing, no music, no message.

Press eject button and nothing happens, CD still in the slot and PCM is now telling me it has ejected the CD.

HELP!!!!

How do I get the CD out of the PCM without taking it to dealership and more importantly why has my car just eaten the CD (my musical taste aren't that bad!)

Any helo greatly appreciated

Paul

Just to say problem has fixed itself, left the car overnight pressed the eject button this morning and hey prsto out pops cd.

Have put in different CD (this time compiled using Roxio CD creator and all working as should

Regards

Paul

Paul,

I haven't got PCM, but for those register members that have, could you possibly detail what is needed to create a CD with MP3's that will play?

It would be extremely useful [8D]

(Or is this explained in the PCM manual?)

The MP3 capability is only available on cars with the PCM2.1 built AFTER mid April 2005. Cars with PCM 2.1 built before mid April 2005 can not play MP3 file Cd's. If you use Nero or a similar piece of software it will rip the music file to MP3 format with ID tags onto either a CD or DVD , though the PCM will only accept Cd format.

The issue with the CD was completely my fault as I tried to create the disc by just dragging the files onto it and then closing the disc (sometimes called finalising the disc - allows it to be read on "normal" CD players that have MP3 capability rather than just PC's)

The proper way to do it is use something like Nero or Roxio Easy CD. Nero can also create MP3's where as Easy CD can't - I use Windows media player to create the MP3's. These software package have specific options for making an MP3 disc for playing on a home or car stereo. Use this method and it works perfectly.

I ended up putting tracks in album folders as I found navigating multiple layers of folders for artists etc a bit of pain in my Audi and just dumping everything in one folder makes it difficult to navigate to the track you want.

Cheers

Paul
