PCM Failure

Hi Guys,

Just traded my Cayman in for a 911 S2 Carrera, just under 2 years old (so still in warranty).
Still in mourning about losing the Cayman though and not fully bonded with the new car yet, but hopefully I will get there!
Driving home from the dealer though, I had the sat nav on, got the phone connected, tried the radio, everything fine with the PCM. Stopped at a service station for a break and when I started the car, expecting the PCM just to come back on, the Porsche logo appeared on the screen on a white background which kept fading out to a blank screen and then kept coming back for a few seconds.
It was also accompanied by a 'pinging/whiring' sound from the back of the PCM as if the hard drive was trying to boot up?
Couldn't reset it so carried on driving and after about an hour, it suddenly sprang back to life and was okay from then on and worked fine.
After getting home I removed the key, tried it again and same symptoms, Porsche logo on a white background flashing up accompanied by a pinging/whirring sound at the back of the unit.
The car is still under warranty and I have rang my local Porsche dealer and have it booked in for checking.
Just wondered though if anyone else has experienced this before and any idea what it could be?
I have rang 2 Porsche dealers and they have not heard of it.
The car had a Porsche dealer service before I picked it up yesterday and wondered if it could be a general software update they might have done?
Any thoughts would be really appreciated.
Many thanks.
Barry.

Maybe this answer from Alan might do the trick?

Thank you Geoff.

I have done a factory reset and fingers crossed, it appears to be working okay at the moment, but I am not holding my breath.
