PCM Failure

It sounds to me like the hard disk is failing. A friend of mine (in France) replaces them with SSDs for better reliability. To give you an idea of the scale of the problem, he buys them 10 at a time.

Thanks Richard, that makes sense. The other problem I noticed that I did not mention, is that the maps are not loading. So, quite possibly explained by a hard disk failure.

Hi All,
Have a 2014 Boxster with a fault on the PCM. Put radio on and after 5 mins it switches off on its own and displays the AUX option. So, I select radio and finewith radio playing for 5 minutes only to repeat with radio shutting down with AUX display again
OK, so I switch the PCM off altogether. 5 minutes later it switches itself on again to display the AUX setting!
Tried a reboot by pressing INFO for 10 secs to no avail.
Anyone experienced this and know of a fix?

I have a Boxster 981 (2012). My PCM went off without any warning and the screen is blank. I have gone through the recommended fix (Hold INFO button for 10 Seconds, etc.) but the system does not reboot nor does the Porsche logo come on, so I cannot start the reset process. Can anyone recommend what I can try next? Regards, Jon

When you say the screen is blank I am wondering whether it's dead ie no power supply. Are you at least getting park assistance up assuming you have that option? Suspect only simple fix is the power supply fuse. After that, it's probably a visit to a specialist. I used Cartronics in Surrey who are v familiar with PCM's and have a license from Porsche for installing and recoding.
