PCM functions?

Just took delivery of a new C2S. A real engineer's car - fantastic performance but less than clear documentation. I have read the PCM manual (which is thicker than the 'car' one!) but there still seems to be functions listed in the manual that do not appear on the menus for the features installed in the car. Only minor things but puzzling never-the-less, just stuff about autolocking doors, headlight delays, etc. Am I missing something obvious?

Thanks

The PCM comes in various flavors so to speak. The hardware fitted in the car and indeed the software options purchased by the owner will determine the functionality. Some of which include:

Navigation
Telephone (Hardwired and bluetooth)
Multi-Function Steering Wheel
Sports Chrono Plus (Stopwatch and would also include the door lock functions and the lighting controls you mention)
Extended Navigation (Compass Function and off-road navigation)
Log Book
CD-Changer
TV Tuner
Voice Control
Satellite Radio (US Only)

I'm just impressed that you've read the manual at all! This is my second 997 and I still have it safely tucked up in the leather wallet.

With all the snow around I had to resort to reading the book instead of driving it so I found out all this other stuff that I will probably never use ..... Still the snow is melting here now so I may not need to find an answer.

Thanks anyway.

I think you will find that the functions you are referring to can only be set/adjusted with the Porsche diagnostic tool.

How come they are in the manual then? It is listed there just like all the other functions under the INFO section.

When you say new C2S is that new to you or a new car, i.e Gen 1 or 2? Assuming Gen 2, do you have Sport Chrono? If so you should be able to change the duration the lights stay on in "home" mode and to auto lock the doors when you move off - I think! Mine has gone now so can't check either the car or manual but I'm sure I set these up when I got mine. The sub-menus on the PCM 3 take some delving around in to find all the stuff you can play with. Have you found how to turn the driving lights on and off?![:)]

It's a new C2S Gen2 but no Sport Chrono. The driving lights is one of the options that I can't seem to find. I understand that not all of the functions will be available in all configurations but it is not at all clear which item may be linked to which option - apart from the obvious deletions like phone etc. I have discovered that some options are only active when the engine is running.

But, like I said, it is only an issue of curiousity since I have been noodling around with the buttons waiting for the snow to clear.

Thanks for your help.

The driving lights are not turned on/off via the PCM but through the lower left stalk menu. I can't remember exactly what it's called but if you keep scrolling down it's the last one you come to (probably "lights")! Select that and there's an on/off option. Non Sports Chrono does limit the PCM options to a degree. Manual or PDK, btw?

I only have a Gen1, so no worries about daylight running lights [;)]
However Yes, with the chrono option I can set the autolock etc from the PCM, its user and setting or something similar...[&:]
Its been a long time since I read the manual [&o] or set them up..

Thanks. I'll give the stalk a try.

I went for the manual - I'm afraid I'm old fashioned in that regard and I still enjoy the traditional shifting skill. I know the PDK is slightly quicker but ultimate speed is not normally paramount compared to the other variables in the mix.
