PCM - Just too late!!

I've been trying out the PCM Sat-Nav on the new Cayenne.

It always tells me to turn AFTER the corner!![:mad:]

A good example is how it says "now turn left" a couple of seconds after I have left the roundabout exit.

A couple of times now I have missed the turning and had to turn round.

This is really annoying. Can I adjust the timing, or is it a basic fault with the system??

And NO... it's not because I drive so fast !![;)]

it the special Directors edition.[;)] it has to put in a request to change direction in writting then wait for approval at the next board meeting[:D][:D][:D]

You are quite correct.

I love Sat Nav and wouldn't be without it. However, you have to have confidence in the system. This may come with regular use.

I have used the current BMW, Audi and Porsche (PCM2) systems and, as you say, the Porsche system does, occasionally, seem to give instructions a second or so too late. Glance at the display arrows and this should confirm the correct direction to take.

So far, one of the best systems I have used is the Becker Traffic Pro High Speed. This is also available as a Porsche badged product. The key features are:

* Looks identical to Porsche CDR 22/23 units (backlit in amber)
* Unit and antenna integrate in the dash perfectly,
* Provides clear, accurate verbal instructions
* Provides useful graphics
* Costs c.£950 fitted
* Could be refitted to another car if necessary
* Has the latest 2004 Europe-wide software
* Uses CD as it doesn't have to support the large screen grahics etc of PCM

I can definitelyrecommend it for retro fitting to 996 and Boxster.
