PCM MP3 folders plus BT advice.

After 4 years of owning a Y2000 996 moved on to a 56 plate C4S 997 (what a car)

I loved the 996, but the C4S is on another planet!!!

I've never had PCM before and trying to come to terms with not having ipod and BT connectivity. I fitted a becker grand prix that had full ipod functions and basic BT in the 996.

All i want to do is burn some MP3 but in folder by artist. I've burnt MP3 and they work in the single CD but arn't in folders. I'm not that bad with computors and normaly use dbpoweramp.

So all i want to do is rip some MP3 in folders, please anyone.

On another point, the new car has extended warranty so i cant install BT, i've tried loads of visa mount kits and FM transmiters but found them all to be a bit poor. I really do need BT in the car so i bought the Parrot slim, not bad but not good enough (gave it to my business partner for his wife) i then ordered the Jabra freeway HD and bingo perfect very clear and the FM transmiter is as good as it gets!!

Thanks and i hope the info on the freeway is of use to anyone.

Cheers Chris

Chris, speak to a friendly OPC about the BT ..... you never know.

I use Window media to rip and burn my discs, however since Itunes went on my PC I've had major issues with burning a MP3 discs that will play correctly...[&:]
I've just ripped some new discs, so will have another go in the next week or so.

Garry thanks for the reply, i've spoken to my opc and they confirmed i don't have the phone module and fitting bt would cause a problem with the warranty! to be honest im happy with the jabra freeway. Just want an easy step by step to burning mp3 in folders.

cheers

If you're used to using dbPoweramp, then stick with that. It actually gives you enormous flexibility on the way you structure your folders as you can substitute variables into the "naming" field. For flac, mine says ...

flac[IFCOMP][ifvalue]album artist,[album artist],[][album][IFMULTI][disc] - [][track] - [title][][IF!COMP][artist][album][IFMULTI][disc] - [][track] - [title][]

So, to start with that says, put it in a subdirectory called flac. Then it says, is the cd flagged as a compilation. If so, look to see if a field called album artist is defined, create a directory called that, if not create a directory called the album title. Then, if it's part of a multi CD pack, call the track the cd number, then the track number, then the title. If it's not a compilation, just use the album name to do the same thing.

So, for Amy Winehouse, Back to Black, it creates

flacAmy WinehouseBack to Black1 - Rehab.flac

It's a little complicated, but completely flexible to give you whatever you want.
