Hi, i the PCM Navi on my 996 C4 is flashing and asking for a code. The radio code i have doesn't seem to change anything, is the radio code input the same thing using the navigation r/h knob or am i one?[;)]

I can only find one in the service book, hand written saying "radio" and the 4 digit number. I don't know how to put this in either.

Hi,
can you help with this problem.....I retrofitted Navigation into PCM2 in my 997(installed Porsche DVD Driver & necessary cables & GPS. Didnt have a disc when it was installed (by a Porsche tech) but when I got the disc & loaded it in, it came up with this warning "˜cut off protection overheat PCM' and now the PCM shuts off when its been on for 2 minutes?? I read somewhere on a forum that this was due to an incompatible nav disc?.....is this true? What do I do now, its cost me a fortune to install & i don't know which bit is wrong, the Porsche DVD drive or the Disc?? PLEASE HELP

You can get this message when you try and install map or update software which is an earlier version than the currently installed software. If this is the case, then you should be able to fix the problem by installing a later version.

Thanks Richard, My DVD reader is from a 2006 car, my car is a 2005 997 C2 S. I used a 2005 DVD which gave me the error message I spoke of, I then tried a 2007 DVD from a freinds car which then gave me the error message 'DVD unreadable'. Does this sound like the problem you have mentioned?? How do I get hold of later software, really frightened of buying another disc & finding out thats not the cure. Can I just update the driver software & use old disc or do I need new discs with new drivers? Thanks again for your help mate, at last someone who sounds like they knows their stuff. My Porsche tech didnt sound very interested when I told him & wasnt sure why the message came up. Paul

You really need to get everything up to the same software level. You can't just swap map DVDs as the software of each unit (nav drive, amplifier, PCM, etc) needs to match in order for the whole thing to work.

If you drop me an email, I'll attach some instructions to a reply.

Hi Richard, I sent a reply via the email link but not sure it went thru as I put my email on it? If you could kindly email or reply with instructions that would be a massive help. Many Thanks
