Dear all,

I have just had a quote from an OPC for the upgrade DVD for my MY05 C2S this came to around £350. Can any one advise where I might get this cheaper (nothing on ebay) also is this latest DVD compatible with the PCM system fitted in my 05 C2S. I would be grateful for any advice.Thanks.

Regards

Ian

One of my (few) criticsms of Porsche is the poor service they provide to their customers who have invested in PCM. They should be making any upgrades simple and reasonably affordable. The benefits and goodwill would be considerable.

If your PCM doesn't have TMC, then there is a software upgrade and new disc for '05 models that, I believe, OPCs were doing for around £400.

If your car is a 2005 model then it is possible it will not only require an updated map , but also a software update in order to run it. Simply putting a new map in the navigation drive may result in an error message saying that the disc is not compatable and cannot be read. There are a couple of ways to check what is required for your specific car. The first is to remove the existing map DVd from the navigation drive, if it has 05.2004 or 10.2004 as the release date then you will need an update of the software on the PCM. The second option which is more conclusive if you press the MAIN and TRIP buttons on the front of the PCM you will get a software listing page. If you can jot down all the software numbers that are displayed and post back I can tell you what updates your car will need and if the newer map CD will work straight off.

As your register team, we have raised this very point with Porsche GB quite a few times, even giving them suggestions of what we feel could benefit both parties.
As yet we have never had a response, however the climate has changed so a new approach may not fall so quickly..

Other manufacturers do support their communication systems much better than we are supported with ours.

Well Gary, I do agree with you and hope they will soon start to listen. Please ask them to sort out PCM 3 as in my opinion it is not fit for purpose. One cannot insert a full postcode and cannot even put in house numbers of some addresses.
