PCM Problem

Hi Guys,

Having a bit of a problem with the PCM in my 997 s2 and wondered if this is isolated or if anyone else has had the same problem.

I think!! it might be down to extreme temperatures inside the car on a very hot sunny day, but not 100% sure.

The PCM has been fine all year, but yesterday when it was parked in the works car park in the sun, when I came to switch the unit on, it would not 'boot' up (if that is the correct term), but just displayed a white Porsche logo screen and I could hear a 'pinging' noise coming from the back of the unit every 20 secs or so.

I pulled the fuse and left it until this morning until the car cooled down and it came on first time. It was blistering in the car yesterday though.

Other reason I think it may be temperature related is that it happened once before at this time of year when it was particularly hot.

Has anybody else experienced this please?

Thanks.

Barry.

Barry, I only ever had anything similar happen, but it was also on a hot day!!
Wouldn't of been so bad had I not been leading the register out into the Peak district!![:(]
On our first stop, I locked the car and upon returning it was all back to normal... no fuse needed to be removed.

Thanks for the reply Gary and very interesting to hear about yours. Removing the fuse didn't cure my problem but it stopped the 'pinging' noise whatever that was!

It's been fine to-day btw but it has been a lot cooler to=day 'up north'!

Cheers.

Barry.
