PCM Replaced under warranty

Just thought I would share a recent positive from my Porsche warranty and OPC.

I ordered the software map upgrade to bring my 2010 PCM system up to date with the latest maps. The part is apparently a one time use only software code which would you believe was on back order from Germany. Having waited for it to come into stock, I was told the process (which seemed in line with other users experiences on this forum) was to slowly build up the firmware in order that it would accept the new maps. I was running version 1.41 so I think there were a fair few versions to go through.

However after an hour or so of trying the OPC advised they would need to carry out further diagnostics and consult with Porsche as the PCM would simply not up date at all. After carrying out further checks I was advised the system would need to be replaced under warranty. Hey ho 48hrs later I'm now the owner of a brand new PCM system. I can't believe what on the face of it appears to be exactly the same hardware there has been a need to replace it, but clearly I'm not complaining. The OPC advised they had seen this before, has anyone else had this experience? Ironically the new system is delivered blank and they still need to update the firmware and load the map software which I found a little strange but now it takes the 7 digit postcode and is all in fine working order.

I haven't checked the latest firmware on mine yet, does anyone know what this should be? I think the PCM 3.0 was used in the 991.1 but isn't the latest PCM 4.0? Any thoughts, knowledge, comments appreciated.

We had to have the PCM replaced twice due to it going blank and clicking away to itself. The loading of the discs was I was told the reason the first time it took over a day, fitting the unit was very quick. They were apparently still loading discs at 8pm, having had the car from 9 am.

Second time it was agreed they'd have it for 2 days to be sure!!

Hi
This is interesting as I'm about to have my PCM upgraded by a Porsche dealership but Porsche Cars GB are covering
the cost as I have resently brought the car from a Porsche Centre.

Are you able to let me know which dealerships you both used for your upgrades as clearly my dealership are charging
for this important upgrade which you both say you experienced problems.

Everything I've had done under warranty has been done via Porsche Hatfield which is a Porsche GB owned retail dealership.
