PCM SAT NAV

Hi,

I have a 98R with a factory PCM1 Sat Nav.

Occasionally, it gets confused and thinks I am in a different position, usually still quite local and just a few roads out. A few, maybe 5-10 minutes later, we are back on track!

Any ideas?

Also, it crashes at random moments, alot of yellow writing sith an overlapping error message which is difficult to read, even when not driving. The Sat Nav reboots after a while and is then OK.

More ideas?

Can anyone tell me where the Sat Nav Antenna is located?

Also, i know there have been plenty of posts re replacement disks, newer and cheaper than OE Porche inc. Vauxhall - has anyone successfully located these and got them up and running?

Cheers,

Rob

Sat nav reciever is under the panel at the base of the windscreen - where the red alarm active light is.

Wish I could help with the other questions - but I'm afraid I've no idea.

I too have a PCM 1 which from time to time gives my position incorrectly but I haven't suffered the error messages.

As to trying other CD's (i.e. Vauxhall) forget it. Your PCM has an 8 bit memory on a car that age and as such you can't upgrade it's software so as to read the later version CD's as they need 16 bit memory. You could upgrade the CD reader to a 16 bit version which would allow the software upgrade and hence using the Vauxhall CD's but that comes at a price - OPC price - around a grand!!!!!
