pcm

Hi,
A question hopefully someone will be able to answer for me.
I have the basic pcm, meaning no sat nav etc. in my 2014 cayman.
I also don't have usb sockets, only 12v and auxillary socket in the glove box. On the pcm is an auxillary button, when I plug my iphone 5s into the auxillary socket (using a lightening cable / phoneo jack) and select auxillary input, is does play but very rubbish sound.
Any ideas, is this what I can expect or is it a cheap cable (which it is)

thanks
derek

Difficult to tell without trying another cable. Could you try a 3.5mm to 3.5mm (male to male) cable? These are usually cheaper than lightning to 3.5mm.

If the above suggestion doesn't work and assuming you have fm on your car you could try an sd card transmitter. Don't laugh but I bought one in Aldi for £2.99 for using in an old 4x4 I had at the time Found it last week in the garage and as I have a basic 987 Cayman with no digital inputs I tried it in the armrest 12v socket.

It worked really well much to my surprise and the sound quality was nearly as good as a cd. You have to convert your music to MP3 or such and transfer it to an sd card. A 1 gb card can hold hundreds of tracks.

sorry

thanks for the replies, I think I've been a bit of a doughnut, all working fine now, must of not had it all the way in!
