PCM1 16 bit Problem

hi guys, been lurking around the forums for a while now, but its now time to say hello and ask a question
i have just bought a 2002 996 Carrera 4 with PCM1 16 bit version, everything works except the sat nav part, i get a cd read error every time i try to switch to it, i have pressed the button on the A/C screen to see which version of the operating system i have but it has nothing stored, it just has _ _ _ _ _ on display under the writing ( where i would assume it should have PONA628D or something similar)
Has anyone had anything similar and if so how did you fix it?
Do you think the updated discs and the vauxhall discs will fix it?
Sorry for so many questions on my second post

hi, tried both of those, even had it apart to clean the lens, put it back together and still get this

where abouts are you? I have PCM with original discs which works fine (surprising how few road changes there have been in the last 6 years). I am in the North West and would be happy to let you try using my discs - at least then you'd know if it was a hardware or software problem.
