pcm1 radio codes

I suffered a flat battery due to a dead alternator recently. Subsequently my pcm is now asking for me to put a code in. Having checked my service book history and then turning the house upside down I find i don't have the radio code card.
So I phoned my opc. They gave me (after security checks) the only code they have for the car, the Navi code. The car is asking for the PCM code. I tried the navi code in the vain hope it might work . No joy, I tried numbers either side of the numbers given. Still no joy. The opc recommended a few places on the net I might try( no idea if this is the usual way they get lost codes !). I haven't tried the one they recommended yet but i tried one that came up recommended on a search. That number bombed too. I am now on the hour wait to enter any code now. Anyone got any ideas. I have the model number serial number etc. Just no blasted code to resrtore my PCM1 to working order.

There are two separate codes, and you need them both, as you have found. I have no idea why the OPC can't give you both, as they should be able to get them from Porsche's IPAS system. Unfortunately, there atren't any decoders for PCM to retreive the codes from serial numbers.

The codes are often stored in the DME, under Vehicle Data, at the factory. These can be accessed with a Porsche tester. If you are anywhere near me, I'd be happy to give it a go for you.

I must admit i was surprised that they didn't have both codes. The opc recommendation involved a Becker service agent (guess that makes sense). I don't know enough about pcm but as much as i know is that the Radio bit is Becker and the navi bit is Siemens. Previous beckers have recoverable codes. You would think it would be the same for the PCM ? Unfortunately Berkshire a bit far. But if things get really difficult i will bear it in mind. Is it durametric tester you have or a pst2 ? Any info on those off forum would be good, considering my current position !
I fitted a traffic pro to my last Boxster. I managed to lose the code card for that too. I bought the traffic pro brand new. I can't believe i have lost another code card. That said , it might not have come with the car this time.

I have a Becker decoder, but I'm 99% sure it doesn't work with PCM1. The nav drive is, as you say, made by Siemens, and I know it won't work with that. However, that's the code you have.

It might be worth calling Maple Audio ( http://www.mapleaudio.co.uk ) To see what they can do, but it would obviously involve some cost.

I'll email you about the testers I have.
