It was working brilliantly now struggles to read a cd intermittently , I`ve tried a CD cleaner and it wont play it says its not a readable CD lol, so how do I clean the thing so it will work 100% again ?

is there a Porsche cleaner disc i don`t know about or is this a fault that creeps up and is a trait?

please advise me I`m frustrated with it now.[]

Is it the same with original audio CDs as well as the navigation CD? If so, it sounds like the CD drive has had it. It is a fairly common occurrence.

The CD drive can be replaced. I believe there is a DIY on RennTech.org, if you are handy with a screwdriver. If not, there are places who replace them, like Maple Audio. http://www.mapleaudio.co.uk

Its the audio CD that`s the prob in car ,the nav is fine no issues works perfectly, it seems it just needs a clean but how? it won`t play a cleaner, ill read your links thanks for replying.

Hmmm yes not got that specific fault, thanks for the link though useful site[;)]
but my audio cd player has the intermittent disc reading fault, however it will play and i have audio and the unit connects my Ipod interface fine, its just an annoyance if i want to play a CD as it will make up its own mind to read / not read an audio disc at random, it ejects fine, tries to read but states message "disc unreadable", apart from the fact it might not share my taste in music :ROFLMAO: i cannot put my cleaning disc through the damn thing as it refuses to play that also giving the same message, ideas anyone?
as it does work when it fancies the original (not a CDR) disc I`m reluctant to follow the steps in the link but i may just copy all my stuff onto the Ipod but I`m annoyed as stuff like this niggles me ....HELP

Sorry, I got confused by not reading your signature properly. You must mean the PCM2.1 in your 987, in which case of course the navigation disk reads, as it is in a separate drive!
