PCM2 Satbav Problems

I have a Gen 2 C2. PCM works fine except for the navigation element which refuses to lock onto any satellites and the map has me adrift in the English Channel. I have tried the software Factory Reset in the PCM to no avail. My local OPC suggests a satellite detector problem which I believe is the nodule in the front centre of the dash. Could a wire have fallen off or is this unit known to fail. Is it a straightforward and easy unclip of this small item from the dash or does the whole dash have to come out to check. Advice gratefully received before I consign the car to my local OPC to resolve. Many thanks

On my Gen 1 I just had the windscreen replaced and the sat nav stored working and as you describe the position was all over the place. I believe that in the PCM menu there is an " info" option that shows the number of satellites that the unit can detect, try looking at this. The GPS antenna is located in the windscreen and for me they had damaged the cable that plugs on to the windscreen. This cable and plug is located under the hood behind the batter area. Check yours to see if it is connected.

Many thanks for your advice. As it is 3 years since the windscreen was replaced and the satnav has been working fine until last week, I suspect this may not be the problem, but I will check the connection behind the battery if I can find it assuming there is no difference between Gen 1 & 2 cars regarding this.
