PCM3 Bluetooth with Iphone 8

Hi,

Just picked up a 997.2 C4s and sync my Iphone8 over bluetooth. If works bit none of the phonebook text is being shown on the screen or when a number calls in/I dial out?

Have read up a bit, is this the ‘Sim Access Profile’ issue? Can it be solved? Any ideas gratefully received.

Many thanks

Rhys

Rhys,
I had a similar problem when I first picked up my 997.2 and I had to have the software reloaded in the PCM. Also it sounds like the PCM is switched over to Bluetooth as some of the functions are working but its worth checking to make sure that the PCM is switch over to Bluetooth, try selecting SIM and then back to Bluetooth.

It is most likely an SAP issue. The 997 PCMs require a phone with Sim Access Profile to get full access to the phone data. I believe only Samsung and a couple of others have this and I recall this was something to do with a licensing issue. Certainly Apple phones don't have it. I have used Samsung for years now and SAP is one of the reasons.

I presume Porsche have now changed this requirement on later models?
The only solution I can suggest, if you want something more than just "hands free", is to change your phone!

There are two options.

Version 2.23 of the operating system software introduced support for HFP along with rSAP. However, if you update the software to 2.23 (and 2.24), you also need to have new maps, so will cost the best part of £300 at a Porsche Centre. There are alternative ways of updating them cheaper, but very few independents know how.

Re-coding the PCM to de-activate the I666 phone module has the effect of reverting the system to I619 Mobile Phone Preparation, which supports HFP. A 10 minute job with a PIWIS tester.
