PDI checklist

Three months later and I am still waiting for my Pre Delivery Inspection (PDI) printout I was promised.

Anyway, does anyone know what the split for responsibility on checks is between the Factory and the OPC? Things like wheel alignment, who should be checking that?

Does anyone have a list of what is actually checked in a PDI and at the OPC?

Many thanks [:)]

OK - apparently the Wheel Alignments are checked by the factory prior to shipping.

You then have 1000 miles warranty on the alignment before it will then cost you £270 to have it checked again.

So anyone picking up a new car, I suggest you try have your geometrey retested as early as possible as I have heard of a lot of Porsche owners with their settings from the factory being out.

As I have done over 2000 miles in my car now, I have asked my OPC for the official 997 Turbo alignment specs and I will get my local garage to check them for less than 1/3 of that price!

Alex, I spoke recently to a Chris Franklin at Centre Gravity - 'cofg.co.uk' - who seems to be a highly regarded Porsche geometry specialist, and who certainly seemed to know his business.
He advised me to let the suspension 'settle' for about 5k miles before getting a proper geo check done, unless of course some problem was definately suspected before then.
He seems to have a wealth of experience as regards setting up Porsche suspension, and I'd think he could provide you with not only the factory settings but also settings for different 'styles' of driving, whether for fast road or track.
A very nice guy to boot and worth having a chat with on the phone in any case.

i have just had the settings done after 9k miles and the difference is very noticeable-i suspect they were out for the past 18 months -both fronts are nearly worn through on the insides at only 9k miles (and just 2 trackdays0)-in future i will get the geo done after a few months regardless of who pays for it-i could save the cost in rubber anyway!!
