Having switched to the porsche "dark side" (or should that read "even darker side" ?) a few months ago, after 10 yrs and 90k miles with a 996 targa manual, a couple of queries to pick the brains of panamera /PDK drivers out there

Can anyone recommend any good sources for -

(i) detailed descriptions of the philosophy behind the various modes of operation or indeed a good book / articles on driving PDK porsches (beyond the handbook info ).
I appreciate you can just let the microchips decide or drive as a manual but having an understanding of the principles of the logic/selection modes should at least allow a more educated choice as to which of the many modes to use for given conditions and a bit more vehicle empathy. Silverstone Experience may well beckon at some point but any leads for some further enlightenment in the meantime would be much appreciated.

(ii) info regarding torque / power characteristics and max speeds/ gear. With previous porsches there was always an engine chart/data table in the handbook but haven't spotted it in the panamera handbook and haven't had much joy trawling the internet.

Basically would just like to kid myself I understand how the basics of how the transmission works and maximise my driving fun !

I use full auto normally , but when in Sport I always use the paddle shifts - the ones Tech9 fitted , not the horrible things that come (came?) as standard.
Changing up isn't a great deal different between man/auto , but changing down can be a lot more aggressive when done manually - not that I drive a big lump like that aggressively of course.
Its great fun either way!
Not too hot on the techie/stats side , just love that V8 growl on max power and the big shove it gives you!!

Trying to find a decent sports exhaust for more aggression - er noise.....

I have the std Porsche sports exhaust - pull the vacuum pipes off the actuators and it's in full sport mode all the time - sounds just right to me !
out of interest, how much were the paddles ?
something I'd like to do to mine, as the buttons on the wheel suck !

Hi
Can't remember how much - Tech9 did them - SO much better.
Now have a sports exhaust too 0 sounds like a proper V8 now!
Again - Tech9 fitted....
