PDK on track

Ok, you PDK users, on track (circuit or hill) how do you use the gearbox? I presume most use sport+ but do you leave in auto, short shift or what?
I'm particularly keen to hear from and Cayman R pilots.

Thanks

Tony

I use sports plus and no TC , and manually change using paddles. Take to about 7 and a bit. 981 Cayman S Sport Chrono

A relevant topic for me as I have a forthcoming private 2 hour track session at Knockhill circuit next month with my 718 CS PDK, Sport Chrono + mode switch.

My previous extensive experience at Knockhill was with my CR manual, so I am looking forward to comparing the two transmissions on a track I know very well.

On the road, I use Sport all the time, and shift the gears manually using either the paddles or the central stick shift. On the track I can choose to change up a gear at around 6500 - 7000 rpm. I would expect the Sport Plus mode to be the most track focussed option for setting the best lap time, but I shall be testing all the options, including "D" mode with Sport and Sport Plus engaged just to see how it relates to the corner speeds. I shall also test the Sport PSM traction control setting, which is a new map on the 718.

It should be an interesting day, and one which I shall be reporting back on, after the event.

Brian

I use sport plus and auto for the first couple of sessions as I find that the PDK is a very good teacher that lets you know the best gear for different corners. I then switch to paddles for the rest of the day as it's more fun getting it right or wrong on a lap. I turn PSM off if dry to stop the car applying rear brakes which is annoying and causes high wear. I keep it on if slippery as a safety net.
