PDK Software Uprade Anybody?

Been suffering a little throttle delay recently.
It happens on pick-up from low speed, maybe at roundabouts, pulling away from petrol forecourts, that sort of thing. It's intermittent too, which makes it doubly annoying since you can never replicate it when you have a technician with you trying to diagnose the fault.

My first thinking was it was something to do with stop/start, coasting protocol, traction control or one of myriad of other electronic gizmos that are the bane of modern transport. However, my Porsche Centre seems to think it relates to the PDK software and has booked it in for a software upgrade - and it must be quite a serious step too because the car is needed for a whole day since engine management is also integrated into the process.
BTW, they're giving us a Panamera on loan for 2 days too whilst the work is carried out! [:(]

My question is, is this something other owners have experienced and, if so, did the upgrade resolve any problems there were having or did the vehicle feel any different after it was done?

For my part, I'm expecting to get the Macan back with eye-watering, bolt-shearing power to such an extent that any aspirations I may have had for a Ferrari 488 GTB will now fade into insignificance. [:D]

Both my Macan S diesels have suffered from this hesitation which I've only managed to avoid by using sport mode, so if there's a software fix I'll be delighted. Let me know
how it goes after the fix Clive and I'll see about getting mine booked in!

I had the same problem with my diesel macan which is a dec 2014. They did a pdk software update and feels better now but not 100%. As said before only way is to drive in sport mode.I wish they gave me a porsche loan car.My macan has been a few times for little things and so far I have had a golf and a loan car from enterprise.
 
Ours is November 2014, so the same sort of age. It seems the problem maybe getting worse - or perhaps it's just because I'm taking more notice of it. Sometimes there's no throttle response at all momentarily, just like driving up the ice hill at Silverstone - flat out but with nothing happening. [&:]
Anyway it's booked in for 15th March, so I will report back with the results then.

I've noticed it on my Macan S Diesel (March 2015) but what is more noticeable is it needs a lot of accelerator input when manoeuvring at low speed on first start up after overnight in the garage and when the outside temperature is cold, had exactly the same symptoms on my Audi Q5 but that was a 2.0TDi.

I'll live with both of these as my new Macan GTS is due in 6/7 weeks time[:)]
 
Well, I had the promised software upgrade last Friday and the vehicle does seem to be more throttle responsive now.
I've not done a great deal of motoring since, but I'll keep an eye on it to see how it pans out on a longish run.
As a matter of interest, they kept the car for 3 days but the work apparently only took an hour and half! [:mad:]

I had a 3 litre diesel Panamera for the duration and was very glad to get back in the Macan! [:)]

I was severely embarrassed just the other day when my Macan Diesel S (September 2015) would not move up a slight incline to reverse out of a parking space.
This is not the first time, although on previous occasions I was not surrounded by amused pedestrians.
The engine would not rev despite a heavy right foot.
I stopped the attempt, selected neutral, waited a few moments with the engine running and tried again with more success, albeit still reluctantly.
The engine was cold having only travelled 2 miles from home to the parking space to drop off my wife.
I will enquire with regard to the PDK update with my OPC and report further.
 
My Macan (Petrol S) went in to my PC for warranty recall work recently, three or four items including a compulsory one for the fuel line, but none were related to a PDK software upgrade - I specifically queried this in advance with the head of the service department.

Is it a problem on Diesels only?

No answer to your query I'm afraid but I have a question perhaps you are able to answer. If I remember correctly from the 997 Register outings (with you in your big red Fezza) I think you were waiting for a Turbo S in ice blue. Shoot me if I'm completely wrong we are all getting older but good to see the Porsche marque doesn't leave us totally. If you did/still have the ice blue car what was it like to live with ie gravel rash swirl marques just looking after the paintwork in general?
We have only had our SD for a short while but I think I have found my porsche Nirvana loved my 997 Turbo and Cayman but really loved my run out Turbo S old shape Cayenne but it was a big beast and it got to me dragging a massive empty box around behind me (hell on wash days too).
I just placed an order for a Macan GTS but the colour choice as always with Porsche is limited, but that ice blue i'm thinking would look pretty good. 4k for the pleasure but then I paid 1.5 K for estoril blue to go on my Audi Allroad in 2005 so looking at inflation the bespoke colour would be justifiable eh!

Hi Paul,
Ice Blue met. is a cool colour, easy to live with and doesn't show chips, swirls or dirt unduly, plus it looks fantastic when clean and the sun is shining, IMHO. It goes well with black as a contrast too, so you should think about some dark wheels.

Thanks for that Clive, I have now seen photos of Porsche Graphite Blue on other models from the car shows. i'm now speculating that this could find its way onto the Macan in the future however as always the Porsche standard metallic colour choice is not good.
As to wheel choice the 20" Spiders with the dark grey inside of spokes are proving easy to keep clean and looking good, but still took out the insurance as the polished outers are no easy task to put right after kerb clipping I would imagine.
