PDLS+ Dynamic High Beam Not Working

My 2016 CGTS was optioned with PDLS+ (code 632) which includes Dynamic High Beam. Picture of camera attached.

Despite meeting all the requirements stated in the manual ('high beam assist' enabled in the settings, lights set to auto, driving in darkness >37mph etc), the lights never switch to main beam. I get a green headlight symbol with an 'A' on it on my dash when I push the light lever forward suggesting it's activated, but no auto high beam.

Before I take it to Porsche to check, does anyone have any similar experience / ideas? Thanks

Operation of the main beam is determined by ambient light levels. Find a dark, unlit road to drive on and check if the main beam kicks in. This should also produce a blue warning light on the dash cluster. It will revert to the green 'A' warning light with oncoming traffic , street lighting and some reflective road signs.

Clive

Thanks Clive. I did a cross-country drive on Wednesday in total darkness (no street lights, or other traffic) and they stayed on dip with only the green light with the 'A' illuminated, i.e. no blue main beam light.

P.S. - Great car list in your signature!

Maybe there’s a camera fault? Unfortunately the most efficient course of action is to run some Porsche-specific diagnostics to check if there are any error codes flagged-up.

I hope the function works better than that on my GR Yaris, which - to say the least - is a bit clunky, such that having tried it on a few occasions I’ve reverted to manual operation.

Unless I'm missing something obvious, I think it's got to be a camera / system fault and will need checking by Porsche.

The matrix lights on my Audi S4 work well, but expectations of 8 year old PDLS+ tech are relatively low!

I have 7 year old PDLS + tech on my Macan with the LED option, and it works fine, in fact I think they are fantastic.

Just to clarify, this function is only activated in darkness when the following conditions exist:-

Light switch position

selected.
Vehicle speed is more than approx. 37 mph.
Dynamic high beam is activated on the multi-function display.
Dynamic high beam is switched on.

Full dynamic high beam lighting is not available in built-up areas at speeds below 22 mph and full high beam lighting is automatically switched to dipped beam if two or more street lamps are detected by the camera.

Clive
