Peak District R10 Run

Happy to announce that on Sunday, 30th September 2007, R10 will hold a Peak District Run. This non-competitive event is based on approx 75 miles of mainly 'minor roads' in the Peak District National Park.

The event itself will start at the Peveril Hotel, Thorpe (near Ashbourne) at approximately 11.30am. Morning coffee will be available at the hotel for members and their partners. Here you will be given a Road Book of Tulip diagrams detailing the route. R10 members are invited to meet at M1 J15A from 09.00am with a planned departure time of 09.30am.

This is a non-damaging event, although depending upon the weather, your pride and joy may need a good wash afterwards. We hope to see as many R10 members as possible.

Apart from the fact that I casn't drive the 'turbo at the moment [] 'cos I've kn*ckered my left foot (playing 5-a-side[8|]), looks like I might have to work this Sunday anyway, so don't expect to see me.

Hope it goes well - last time we did a run out there it was excellent. Have fun [:)].

Ouch! Still 'spose KPMG want you to make up for all the time off you have had in recent months..... swanning around in an old (but well prepared) Landy...

Okay Mike, hope it mends soon.

Cheers

Dave

Hi Roddy,

Delighted to have you on board. See you between 0900 and 0930 on Sunday at J15A, M1 - hope for good weather!

Cheers

Hi Dave,

Thanks for such a friendly welcome. I'm in Stockport/North Derbys, so will meet you at Ashbourne rendezvous @ 11.30am if that's okay.

Where does the run end up? [8|]

Hi Roddy,

can you make it 11'ish for coffee at the Peveril Hotel, Thorpe (near Ashbourne) as we plan to head out by 11.30 if possible. Lunch hault at Monsul Head (tables booked for us) and finish at the Wheatchef in Baslow. Some 75 miles of mainly minor roads... on Tulip diagrams.

Cheers

Which way are you thinking of heading up there? M1 plod or A5 etc up through Burton? Google reckons +28 mins for the non-motorway route.

Will do my best to make it. Sounds great. Peak District's a lovely place to play!

Roddy

Well, M1, J15A then due north. Admitted it's longer (slightly) but the satnav does the job all the way to the hotel.. and the A5 can be congested at times.

Dave

Just thought the M1 would be a bit boring. There won't be any congestion anywhere at 9:00 am on a Sunday morning I can assure you. Think I'm going to head up the A5 - A444 - A511 - A515 to add a little more interest. It's about 10 miles shorter too.

Okay see you at the hotel. It's booked in name of PCGB R10 for 11am but not before to ensure their Saturday guests have left. They offered a place for us to meet up and have coffee.

Cheers

Dave

This is a bit late in the day but we'd like to come along tomorrow, No worries if it's too late for us to join you for lunch, we'll be happy having a drive out. See you at 11.00 ish at the Peveril Hotel.

Thanks to Dave for going to the considerable effort to organise the beautiful journey around the Peaks. In a way it was a shame we didn't get more cars - but, on the other hand, having fewer cars enabled us to follow each other without too much trouble!!! It made the navigating much, much easier for the other half!!

Jane and I decided to abandon the second half since lunch ran on a little late - and judging by the traffic on the way home we'd still be there had we completed the final leg!!

Many thanks to all those who DID turn up - particularly Ian and Roddy from outside the region.

Thanks to you all from me too for a great day and particularly Dave for all the preparation. I was made to feel very welcome by all of you nice folks from R10. Can't wait for the next one if you're ever back up 'ere. [8D]

Cheers, Roddy

Thanks for letting us join you today, especially to Dave for doing the organisation. We enjoyed the drive and meeting everybody and look forward to seeing you all again. (We're still digesting the fish and chips, by the way).

"And then there were two"
In some ways disappointing about the poor turn out from R10 but we do understand people have other commitments. But delighted to welcome Ian and Sharon and Roddy to swell the numbers. We certainly enjoyed the drive and yes, the fish and chips have finally settled! But I think Pete and Kameliya would agree that the "˜spirited' 38 mile afternoon run was the best part taking in Cavendish Mill, Grindleford, Hathersage, Hope, Edale Valley, the spectacular Winnats Pass and finally cheeky little road with a "˜Special Stage' feel to it from Castleton to Stoney Middleton across the moor. You are quite correct Dave, the traffic was appalling as we queued into Baslow before saying our own farewell to Pete and Kami on the run into Chesterfield for our rather late afternoon tea with friends. Looking forward to the next "˜run out'. Cheers Dave and Anthea

We both really enjoyed the drive yesterday, perfect weather and an interesting route through some beautiful countryside. Many thanks to Dave for guiding us round the whole journey. The afternoon section in particular was superb. Despite the small turn out, we still managed to represent the entire 911 history, from pre-impact bumper to water cooled!

Nice to meet everyone too, as this was our first club outing. Looking forward to the next one.

Pete & Kami
