Performance chip recommendations please

I am thinking of changing the chip in my car - 1994 c2 - I have already changed the induction to a cup style & filter and have also changed the back boxes to Fabspeed. Could someone please advise on if it is worth doing and if so what chip would you recommend, also what kit should I buy from HID4U to fit or are they all the same?? Many thanks Neil

Many thanks Maurice,

I have been a member since 2000 but just didn't get around to registering on the forum - silly really when I see how benifical it is...

My introduction to the marque was a 993 C4 1995 then after a few other things I returned to a Boxster S and then last year decided that nothing matched the 993 for all round pleasure - drive & look..

Anyhow I'm now a little concerned about your comments re the filter fitted and potential damage - can you expand or direct me to where I can learn more..

My car had 51k miles when purchased last year and after a trip to LeMans 24 and a few other trips now has 61k miles - it is a third car & gauraged and therefore is only for weekend use, I intend to keep for some time, so the last thing I want to do is damage it.

On fuel - the only fuel available in the southern ireland is 95 - will running the car on this long term cause problems?

Many thanks again for your help

Neil

Hi Maurice

Many thanks for your help with this - I've the car booked in at the OPC Belfast next week for a service & will ask them.

Shell have pulled V Power from all service stations last year. Surprising given the amount of new (& old) exotica floating around Ireland, Post Celtic Tiger...

Thanks again

Neil

ps Are my car details registered with you?

Yes Wayne Schofield (plus vpower) as Maurice says - a search on here should bring up everything you need to know.

Same problem in Scotland. And the odd station that did have it now seems to be dropping Shell. My favourite on route to airport has just swapped to Esso (only 97 oct[&o])

(not that we're allowed to drive to our airport any more[])

I hate to say this, Neil, but rather than re-program the mapping for more power, you would be better to have it re-programmed to get the best out of 95 RON without detonation .. certainly not an off-the-shelf item. You could end up with more power safely by careful optimising of air / fuel ratios at more conservative ignition mappings .. [;)]

Or check as suggested, with the PST looking for detonation .. [:-]

cheers, Maurice [:D]

That's a good idea. Anyone know if anywhere in the world had 95 RON set up as "standard" and if so what the quoted BHP was?
