Performance Mods......Again

I'm trying to decide on which way to go to uprate my engine to upto 300bhp. 9m (K&N Drilled box & Chip plus throttle bodies) and Autofarm (Roundy type filter, Filmy thingy & Chip) both do kits at around the £1k mark for between 30-50 bhp gain when paired with a cup pipe and cat bypass. Any advice on either of those or other alternatives not includung £4k Motec.

In addition I'm putting in half bolt in cage (painted red) and a couple of harnesses....

oooo...and I'd like it all done b4 the end of September please!

It's a case of pay your money & take your pick I think - both are honest up front companies.
Have personally gone the 9m route (although bought the car from Autofarm).
Drilled air box, K&N filter, cup pipe gave 280+ on the original chip (but don't know if that was std), following a remap and decat the bhp has now gone over 300.

With my former RS, I went the film + chip + K&N + cat-bypass route.
It was with AMD and the engine reached 297 bhp and had a nice torque
curve.

While doing the upgrade, it was discovered that my engine was already
doing 285 bhp (non-standard chip).

The main difference after the AMD upgrade was the much sharper throttle
response, due to hot film.

Hi Jimbers

When I bought my car I was thinking along similar lines as to yourself and did a little research. I spoke to some people with first hand experience and I was thinking of going down the 9m route as the results on the road/track seem to be very good. There are several options available, main thing that came across was to verify the before and after outputs and get someone who will spend a little time fine tuning to your car and needs rather than a drive in - bolt on - drive out option.

Decided to leave my (pretty standard) car alone for the time being and spend the money on some track time and instruction. I am finding standard RS performance pretyy good but I guess this will depend on your experience level etc.

Good fun finding out and speak to people who have had the work done to get feedback - would they do the same again or go a different route?

Regards

Tony, Phil...Thx...Yoda....thats good advice all round and the voice of recent experience....I'll get a check on what the output is currently before mods and speak to everyone over the coming months/meets/trackdays and see how well I handle what there is......and as you say get some tuition to learn how to keep it on the blackstuff
