Looking for views on how to up the performance a little on my 2007 Boxster (especially bottom end). Willing to spend a few quid but not too much, wondered what others had done? Sports exhaust (which one?, re-mapping etc. Also wondering if anyone has a good solution for ipod connectivity for my CDR24. Thanks

[:D]

An exhaust, a remap and a filter might see another 10bhp, but will set you back £2k, you'll barely feel it, you'll invalidate your warranty, and send your insurance premiums through the roof >> just not worth it IMO Ipod connectivity ? - it took the factory until 2007 to offer a solution, and that was dreadful by the revies on here. The only real solution is to record CDs with mp3 tracks (later cars can read mp3), or use a FM transmitter device (not great)

my cd changer won't play rewritable cds just the use once ones....my 2c in case you're about to buy a load - test a couple first.

agree with the above - being fairly well tuned in standard form and naturally aspirated there isn't too much more to come out the boxster - you'd possibly be better seeing if you can fit a supercharger in there somehow.....once spoke to a somewhat famous porsche tuner who told me categorically that he doesn't bother with boxsters as its a lot of effort for pretty much zero noticeable difference....

Not sure of your location, but if you are within striking distance come along to Autofarm with the register on the 21st Feb. They have several tuning options available for the Boxser/Cayman. Be prepared though - as indicated above cheap ones don't generally offer much... [link=http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=421448]http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=421448[/link]

Thanks. Local OPC showed me Tequipment ipod solution today.... more than £500 to buy and fit.......outrageous! Is that what got bad reviews? Cheers []

For a cost effective iPod player, I recommend this: [link=http://www.amazon.co.uk/Belkin-F8Z176eaBLK-iPod-TunebaseFM/dp/B000YSRF7O/ref=dp_ob_title_ce]http://www.amazon.co.uk/Belkin-F8Z176eaBLK-iPod-TunebaseFM/dp/B000YSRF7O/ref=dp_ob_title_ce[/link] I know its an FM transmitter but its light years better than the iTrip I had years ago and I find it a good solution (also charges your iPod). I have been pondering the Boxster "performance enhancement" question for some time. I shall be going to Autofarm to see what they have, as Mark recommends. I think the most cost-effective, and, if you get the right exhaust, fun, combination is induction, exhaust and chip in that order. As regards insurance, all is not lost: if you put the mods to some of the low mileage/classic insurance specialists you may find you get a reasonable quote. I did with my 944, which has induction kit, exhaust, roll cage and sports suspension. The quote was £204 from Classic Line.

ORIGINAL: ClubRacer For a cost effective iPod player, I recommend this: [link=http://www.amazon.co.uk/Belkin-F8Z176eaBLK-iPod-TunebaseFM/dp/B000YSRF7O/ref=dp_ob_title_ce]http://www.amazon.co.uk/Belkin-F8Z176eaBLK-iPod-TunebaseFM/dp/B000YSRF7O/ref=dp_ob_title_ce[/link]
I use this one, but I don't use the FM bit (not in the Boxster anyway). I use the line-out facility and have it connected to the CD Changer Preparation cables (present in all UK cars up to 2002-ish model year). The sound quality is much better than the FM transmitter.

I use the Kensington digital FM transmitter - and it is excellent given the accoustics in the car with road and engine noise to compete with. 3 preset frequencies - but use only one in the main. If a stronger local signal comes in, then one of the others works - always been able to use it so far. Charges iPod at the same time. Very neat soltuion about £25 from Amazon.

I fitted a Dension Gateway 500 to my 2006 this links right onto the optical system the sound is great the menus are a bit of a fiddle but over cost £300 installed cant remember who the installers were but it was via the Dension web site.

Thanks, have a look at the kensington i think. Performance wise, maybe exhaust but hardly seems worth it. Don't think i am that bothered........245bhp isn't exactly slow. Cheers, Peter

Your other option is to shed some weight - the Porsche sports seats weigh about 50Kg each, so swapping them for some aftermarket 'race' type seat might save you up to 70Kg . Whether you'd notice it (70Kg less on 1400Kg = 5% or 184bhp/T versus 175bhp/T) i doubt it. Certainly my S doesn't feel more sluggish with a passenger in than when its just me ?
