Got a 944 Turbo 1985 LHD. Owned it a couple of years. Got it out from storage today but find the heater is sending out maximum heat, will not adjust to anything cooler. Like driving a mobile sauna! Anyone any thoughts, or suggestions on how to turn the heat off on a temporary basis until I can get it to a specialist

Have you checked to make sure that the rapid screen clear button is not pressed in. Easy to do by accident when cleaning dash. Gives maximum heat and blow to screen and de-activates all other controls until button is disengaged.
Me too - I took the glove box out today (after pulling the fuse for the interior lights, thanks Paul!) to find the plasctic clip broken and the rod dangling free. Luckily, the metal clip was still there. I've lashed it up with a cable tie for now, so the interior is much cooler.
