Petrol Flap Central Locking Noise

Hi all,
when i lock my car i get a horrible noise from the petrol cap locking motor, although it does still lock.

Is this something covered by the extended warranty?

Is it something that can be lubricated easily and may then go away or is it just advance warning that one day soon i wont be able to put any more 98 octane liquid gold in the car?

Or should i just spray it with WD40??!!

Would prefer to get it fixed before this day arrives!

Thanks in advance

Rick

Hi,
99% of the time it is a circular rubber housing on the lock which has slipped off. If it is recent, then it might still be in the fuel filling compartment. Just push it back on.

To check: Leave the fuel flap open and lock the car, the bit which shoots out has to be surrounded by rubber if not then that is what is causing the noise.

Hi THX,
thanks for the quick reply.

The locking 'finger' is still covered by rubber.

Any other ideas?

Thanks

Rick
