Petrol Leak

New member
My 87 3.2 has sprung a leak. Its the petrol supply pipe that runs across top of engine behind fan..If you all look yours might be as perished as mine.
Has anybody changed one themselves and are there any problems.I know a new one from OPC is mega bucks so is there a cheaper alternative?
Cheers.

Hi Don

I had the same fuel leak problem on my car.

You are right, the new fuel lines are expensive from the OPC, but you will find that the new part is slightly modified with double crimps and has a different mounting bracket. I also ordered the fuel line which runs across the back of the engine (nearest to the sound pad) as this has been known to fail too.

I offset some of the cost by fitting the lines myself (without removing the inlet manifold). It was a REAL pain but it can be done at home.

Have a look at this thread :

There is a link to a Pelican Parts thread which was pretty useful.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Cheers.
I have had a look at pelican and it was helpful. It was about what I thought. Its got to be done as my hose split and sprayed petrol everywhere. So 3.2 owners be warned and check this out A.S.P.

Job now done.Very fiddely at times but no real problems.
I could nor face spending £400 plus at the OPC to get fuel lines so took to hose specialist and had them all re-hosed for under £50. They only took an hour to turn job around and when I picked them up they had replaced with steel braid fuel lines so they look great. Strangely enough the crimped ends are German. Company is Abbey Hose in West Turrock nr Lakeside.
