Petrol Supplies in Scotland

I hope that the following news will not be a problem for our Tour of Scotland in two weeks time[:-]

There are scare stories in the Scottish versions of the sunday papers about how (apparently) there is panic buying at the pumps.

Rubbish - no sign of any unusual activity at all.

Nevertheless it does look like there is a tough stance being taken in both sides of the potential dispute at the Grangemouth refinery.

Probably scare stories re shortage but I was down at Alexandra Parade tonight filling barge up with diesel (55ltr) and there were about 10 other cars in all taking small fills probably all less that £10 while I was in

Best way to cause a shortage is to start a rumour now watch the Scottish prices sneak up!

Update Monday morning papers in over drive with DONT PANIC MESSAGE seems as expected headline caused panic buying so they are trying to reverse it this morning

By the time you get here panic will be over

I have just filled up the Boxster in Aberdeen tonight at Sainsbury's Superstore and there was only super unleaded and diesel left. Speaking to others there is limited normal unleaded available in the area. So there does seem to be a bit of panic buying going on.

Tut tut

Have not seen any major problems over here in west of Scotland though there are stories of Garages running out in other areas

Best to keep eye on Scottish news pages or ask locals for opinion on Scottish section

Still time for things to settle down

Where are you? We have 16 Boxsters coming up next week for our week long tour. Would be nice to know where the petrol is located...[&:]

Go up to Scotland on the train and make it a walking tour.

The walking tour would work but getting there on the train? that would be risking it a little much don't you think.

My usual Virgin train was cancelled this morning as it forgot to stop at a big mainline station and pick up it's crew[]
