ok, perhaps a bit retentive so apologies in advance....

what petrol (brand even) do you guys use? i know its super unleaded but BP do 97 ron, shell 99....who does 98 as recommended by the manual....or does it matter? anyone got any thoughts on this?

thanks!

Shell V-Power (99)

BP if we can't find Shell (although the car does not seem torun as smooth).
Shell V-Power or Aral Ultimate when abroad.

However the car will run on any old 95 if you have to [:D]

V-Power for 4 reasons

1) I don't like BP and they seem uncompetative for price.
2) Shell is actually the cheapest fuel where I live.
3) I pass 2 shell stations on my way to the station.
4) The Shell V-Power card keeps delivering coupons for 10 pounds off fuel.

[:D] And they're giving away free Ferrari toys if you buy more than 30 litres in my local!! Keeps my godson very happy ....

OPC Reading advised me to ignore the label inside the fuel flap (which says super unleaded only)! Any views on this? I use BP Ultimate as the nearest Shell is miles away.

You can use normal unleaded - each cylinder has knock control to cope with the lower octane rating. however you will not develop full power on this, debatable how much less. On the odd occassion i used normal versus super in other cars i got less mpg and worse throttle response

I use BP Ultimate, and the car runs well on it. When I use standard unleaded, I can't say I notice any real deterioration in performance because overall driving environment has a bigger impact.

BTW Aral Ultimate = BP Ultimate (we are the same company now - which is the clue as to why I have no view on the Shell stuff).

Around my area their is only Tesco that sells Super Unleaded, which is 99 Octane, my Boxster S runs fine on it, not so good when I have to put 95 Octane in. Don't know who supplies Tesco
