Petrol

Can anyone please advise me as to the petrol I should be using in my 1988 911 Supersports? I am using unleaded and it seems to be fine. Also, the octane doesn't seem to make much difference to it. What is everyone using?

Most people swear by Optimax - it's what I use for choice, but frankly your car will run perfectly happily on ordinary 95 octane unleaded. Four Star (still available in a few places) is a bit of fun, but v expensive, but I have no experience of LRP (I vaguely remember hearing bad things about it though). Any old unleaded will do and anyone who tells you otherwise is talking crap !

Jamie's comments are pretty true. What I would say however, is that it is worth the extra few bob to use Optimax every few tank fulls of 95 Shell or Texaco (both companies use best quality additives). The Optimax keeps the heads injecters and valves clean.

Hi all
I used LRP for a few years but not now after Eynsham when two of the injectors where blocked and the others in a bad way coming home from there.New injectors and the others cleaned. I was recommended by RLR to use Optimax thay use it in there race cars so changed over what a differance it made[:D]
