WE ARE CURRENTLY AWAITING STOCK FOR THIS PRODUCT BUT ARE ACCEPTING PRE-ORDERS.
Thanks to new technology developed by Philips, drivers can see and be seen like never before! X-treme Power headlamps project up to 80 per cent more light on the road ahead (depending on the type of head lighting unit used in the car).
The light is powerful and intense, and the extra quality and quantity of light provided by X-treme Power lamps make them ideal for drivers who want their cars to stand out in a crowd, while ensuring driver and passenger safety is of the highest priority.
X-treme Power is fully homologated for use in all European countries without restriction as replacement for conventional lamps. It is compatible with most head lighting units, including today's modern complex-shape headlights
  • Philips X-treme Power delivers up to an astounding 80% more light than standard halogens,
  • DOT legal and come with the same quality and performance we put into the lighting we sell to OEMs around the world.
  • X-treme Power is a new "must-have" for motoring enthusiasts and high performance drivers.
  • Interchangeable with existing H4 and H7
  • Legal for road use and safe to use with plastic lenses
Here's what Auto Express had to say about Xtreme Power:
This is so new, we could not randomly select test samples, so can't include it in our assessment. Yet performance of our pre production unit was staggering. Even compared with the current benchmark Plus per cent bulbs, the difference was immediate and dramatic. Philips claim an 80 per cent improvement over standard units, but we think that this is conservative.
The results have been achieved in the same way as the 30 and 50 per cent lamps-by taking the allowed tolerances right to the edge. This time though as well as reducing the filament and burning it hotter, Philips has shrunk the glass casing.
As a result, the gas pressure can be increased for better light output.Engineers have also optimised the geometry and shield position to focus the light where it is needed.

in reality, you'll get 20% more on the conventional 993 lighting, which is still 200% down on any proper xenon HID conversion

993 headlamps were already naff, not really a factor in normal cars but if you ever need to do some fast driving, just make sure it's not at night !

If these bulbs run much hotter than the standard ones is it not the case that they will melt the plastic reflectors?

That was my first thought, but it does say they are safe to use with plastic lenses, presumably this includes plastic reflectors?

[FONT=arial"]By strange coincodence (not what you asked I know) but the guy who used to be my neighbour until a year ago (and still owns the house but rents it out) and now lives about 2 miles away owns Powerbulbs. Seems a decent and honest chap and drives a 996 with GT3 body kit so can't be that bad. Gave me a set of free bulbs for my BMW 330Ci Sport before I saw the light (yes pun was intended) and turned to Porsches. [FONT=verdana, geneva"]

[FONT=arial"]Doesn't reflect in anyway at all on whether the lights are any good but just found reference to them interesting.[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

[FONT=arial"]If they are that good perhaps I should blag another free set for my 993 S?

Oops, put my post on incorrctly, sorry. If you want to read it, it is further up this post in the quote section by mistake and starts "By strange coincidence (not what you asked I know)"
Edit: I've fixed it for you - Mark

sorry to ask a stupid question but does anyone know if this philips bulb can be used for the full beam ? I've upgraded to HIDs but now find the full beam looks totally feeble and yellow in comparison...

When I put in some higher output Osram bulbs last year the retailer advised me to do both bulbs in the headlamp unit. The result is that on both dipped and full beam they're slightly less crap than before. Might give these new ones a go though. But in answer to your actual question, I don't really know but I'd do both bulbs.

I've got the HID conversion for the dipped beams. Would it be as easy as just changing the bulbs for the full beams or does the HID conversion change things?

Hi Maurice

Pretty certain high beam hasn't been converted. Is is definitely a H1 bulb that I need? Aceparts says it's H1 but Powebulbs says H7... [&:]

Also do you have any recommendation on changing the side lights to match the HID's? Has anyone got a compared the Philips Blue Vision to LED's?

Cheers
Mark
