Hello the built in phone of my 997 c4s will not get past" initialising phone" stage, anyone else had a similar problem??? I live an hour and a half from an opc, who might be able to help ?. Mark H

Hi Mark

I have the same problem in my 3.2s (53 Plate) Boxter. Was told by OPC that apart from changing the head unit and / or the Phone unit under the drives seat was all they could do??? loads of money. Gave up in the end and got a Bluetooth connection

Hi Mark
Tanya and I sometimes have the same problem in our c4s ,either take sim out and clean or switch the phone
off, through the settings, this takes a couple of minutes to shut down, but like any mobile, you should switch them off for a couple minutes
every so often to re-boot,something to try,if not speak to tim at opc exeter very helpfull
Regards
Paul

Hi Mark

Could you please try With and Without the Sim card fitted. Do you get the same error message? If so it looks as if the Phone unit is not reading /seeing the Sim card. Thats what i get with mine

No it says insert Sim card when none in... the turning off didnt help either.. another sim doesnt work either....bugger

Thanks Mark

I think mine says "Your phone will be switched on" but never is. Please keep us posted to the outcome

Well problem is .. load sim card, screen says reading card then goes to "initialising" never gets past that, no options on telephone display... removed fuse, turned phone off and disconnected battery all to no avail... looks like I am stuck now, I understand the phone gizzmo is under the seat...when the weather is better I will get under the seat and have a poke around to see if anything is loose... not much hope there though... Hi
Not sure where you have got with this, but I have a similar problem.
When I start the car, the raido or CD comes on as normal, but about a minute later the music cuts out because the phone (SIM card) is 'initalising'. This can happen up to three times before it settles down. The phone works, it just spends a lot of time finding the net every time the car is used and the cutting out is annoying.

The later harman becker phone modules do have patch CD's available to overcome known bugs. May be worth contacting the OPC to ask about TSB's that may be applicable. I've a few of these update CD's that I've acquired over the years.
