Fluffy dice was the idea of my young son, before you all take the pee. One question though is that I have noticed that the oil level is already down one segment, do the 997's burn a lot of oil - my 996 did not lose a drop in 11 months. I have only done around 100 miles as I was ill on Sunday & Monday so have not driven for long, so to be down this much already - although I did not check it when I picjked it up, so maybe it has always been like this for the last few days??????

Edited so that there are photos instead of links![;)]

pretty, ain't she!
All the 997's use oil to some degree, and some are quite surprisingly thirsty. However, Porsche seem to be quite happy with up to 1 litre/1000 miles. With your car make sure you check on a level area, preferably the same place each time, such as your drive, as the guage can be a bit sensitive.

Great looking car. My last car was a 997S in Guards Red and I was always concerned it appeared to have a thirst for oil - My OPC (Cardiff) repeatedly confirmed that about 1litre per 1,000 miles was normal and when I continued to be concerned ran a full test of the engine which revealed no problems.

Odd this oil consumption business. My Gen 1 C2S and Gen 2 C2S both used about 1lt/1500 miles. So far the Gen 2 turbo has not used a drop (well, according to the indication!) in nearly 5000. Would the alignment of the piston rings make a difference when the engine is stopped?

Lovely car! Congrats...

I've used 1.5 litres in 19k miles on my gen.2 C2S, so I guess its a bit random.

Great looking car, nice to see someone brave enough to go somewhere else than Silver.....says he with a Silver one!...

Oil consumption? Ah that will be something else I'll have to look at. Been too busy starting it up and driving to check oil levels, I thought the car would be clever enough to tell me if it needed it....

Alan,

You're clearly not yet driving it quickly enough. Just keep practicing! [8|]

Yet another Guards Red! [:)]

Is there a red fetish suddenly growing up around the 997 camp - and if so how and when did it all start?

I think we should be told!

I believe Peter started it?![:D]

Probably true... my early Gen 1 was the first red one at Guildford opc for sure. Mind you, had several guards red ones, back to my 944S in '88.

So guilty as charged.
